How to stop the clicking in relay.

I just did the spoiler swap with the relay. I didn't think it would be that annoying but it is. I read on another post about taking a spring out or something to stop it from clicking every time you step on the brakes. Is this correct or is there something else I can do besides turning up the radio? Also I just tried to hook up the third brake light direct at first and kept blowing fuses, why? Let me know what you guys think.Thanks...John

No kidding, I can hear the relay click everytime I step on the brakes, I didn't try any other method though. I think what I'm going to do is to lengthen the wires a bit and just mount the relay deeper in the quarter or under the car, I don't know, but it annoys me too.

stop the clicking, it's a mechanical relay the clicking is it hitting the contacts. You can't make that relay quieter.(taking out the spring?? thats part of the relay it will stop clicking because it won't work, lol)

You can move it further like stated, or you can find the specs of the relay and replace it with a solid state relay(for non electrical types, meaning the relay is not mechanical)

As far as blowing fuses, I don't know how you wired it but you probably wired it into a circuit that is using a fuse that can't handle the current draw of the led.

I have the same problem with mine, it is very annoying whenever I hit the brakes.

Would it be possible to put some type of sound deadining around the relay??

Mine is mounted on the rear hatch inside the car under the plastic piece.

Your best bet is to buy the solid-state one like was suggested. That has no moving parts, and won't make any noise. Personally, I'd make one, but most people don't have the resources.
