Post How to remove double-sided tape under emblems?

I got up this morning and started shaving all the emblems and side moldings off of my car. I used a hair dryer to heat them with and a piece of fishing line to get up under them. So far I have only done the 2 small pieces on the front behind the wheels and the bird. The bird and one side molding came off great awith minimal residue. I used some bug and tar remover for that. But when I removed the passenger side molding - the real small piece- there was something like a black piece of tape there. Its flush so I can't get anyting under it. I tried to heat it for awhile and that didn't work as well as the bug and tar remover. Anyone else have any ideas about what to use to get it off?

I JUST ran into the same thing earlier this week installing my '69 vintage Z/28 emblems. I've pulled TONS of stickers off of my motorcycle and used WD40 on a rag with both the bike and my Z. Neither paint job was harmed in the LEAST. It eats the wax off so be sure and re-wax when your done, but all I used on my car was WD40 and my fingernails and had ZERO flaws in the paint when done.

WD-40 or denatured alcohol works very well and no harm to paint

Well I must not be doing something right. I have tried so far Denatured Alcohol, Goo Off, and Bug and Tar Remover. I have a friend who has a heat gun. Maybe I'll try that?

Well thanks for the help guys but I'm stupid. It turns out I got all the double sided tape off. I thought it was supposed to be smalland thin and that was it. It turns out all of the rubbery stuff was the tape and on that one side, I had taken the molding off and it went down to the finder and that is what was black. I had a stange susspicion that was what it was at first but was reasurred by my dad it wasn't. He was wrong and a friend who does bodywork gave me the bad news. It wouldn't be so bad if my car was black, red or white or any other color. Now its going to cost me a big chunk
of change to get this small spot fixed. I guess now I have an excuse for a new hood and a front end repaint. Thanks for the help everybody.
