How to Prep new bumper for paint?

I bought a new front bumper for my 95 Z28. Its red and my car is black, im not going to attempt the painting myself but i want to do the initial prep for the experience and to save some time. Anyone with experience in doing this please help me out, either let me know some steps in the process or link me to a good site to follow. I need to know stuff like what grit to use on plastic to remove the paint, and after priming it with (any specific primer?) I wet sand using what grit paper to use and anything else i might need to do. thanks for the help. If youd rather email me the info please do so. THANKS!!

If you don't know what you are doing you might actually cause more problems and make it more expensive for the real guy to prep it. Just something to think about

My dad works in a trade and used to have a sign that was something like...

$30 an hour. If you want to help, $50 an hour.
