How much to get hood painted??

Hey guys,
I posted this in the lounge but it probably belongs in the appearance section...
I'm thinking about getting an SLP Ultra Z hood and i'm curious about how much it would cost to get it painted? Someone told me 300-500, and as low as 100. Call me crazy, but i had no idea it would be that much!
How much did you guys (or girls) pay? Oh, and how much should i be able to sell my stock flat hood for?

And how about getting a set of ground effects painted? About the same? More?

Thanks!!
Chris

Since it's a new hood and you'll be needing the underside painted too, I would estimate around $200. It would be about 60% higher if it was a metallic color, because the nose and fenders would have to be painted as well to ensure a match.

It just so happens I just proposed this question to my paint and body guy last week. He suggested that you'd want to re-paint the front fenders as well, just so everything blends correctly. His off the cuff estimate? $800.

I may as well repaint the whole car.

Im interested in this too, but so far nobody has posted an actual estimate of the cost of a hood painting. I have a MMM color car does that mean I have to get everything else painted just because of that? Youre telling me im looking at about $2000 or more in painting just because of the hood?

All these estimates are wayyy higher than I even dreamed of. I didn’t know the paint costs just about the same as the hood itself. And my car is only 7 months old and is white. Would I really NEED to have the fenders painted? How much would my car fade in 7 months?
I think I’m gonna forget about the hood for a while and focus on some other things. So I wanna spend under 600. What mods can I get? What I currently have is in the sig.
Thanks!
Chris

Sorry cowgirl, I read your post but I disregarded it only because you paid for a custom job with the stripes and all that. For me $2000+ for a paintjob is waaaaaaayyyyyy to damn much for JUST the hood. I would rather buy a rear end, heads cam, or get a S/C if I had to spend that much. Im pretty sure there is a lot lower cost for painting a hood so thats what I am looking for, I guess I should have been more specific.

I replied to your other post too... but I just paid $500 for my OEM SS hood to be painted black/mounted to match my Z. It needed a little "TLC" after it arrived via the Freight Co. in 3 pieces. It looks PERFECT now and looks like it came from the factory. It was for the HOOD only too. Every fender to hood gap is absolutely straight and even all the way around. Most times you've got to watch the "deals". I've found in body work you usually get what you pay for.
