Post How to keep GTS blackouts from falling off???

These stupid things. I had another one fall off on me and I am sick of spending 45 bucks each time I need a new pair. Over 11 months that I have had the car, I have lost a blackout TWICE now and I am getting PISSED.

Any way to keep these things on without making it look tacky??? I am thinking some Heavy Duty double sided tape for them on top and bottom. This is just getting to be a pain in the *** and money NOT well spent. I need some help!!!

Thanks

I hope you aren't putting that crap on the rear lights. My car has indentions on the tail lights where the last semi-ricer had them on it. The heat not being able to escape caused it.

I didn't ask to be flamed here. Just a simple answer. I don't ever plan on taking the blackouts off at all so I don't really care about that. Plus, the red, white, and yellow looks stupid on a red car and everything else on the car is black for accents. Doesn't look ricey if you ask me.

I have them on my 93 back and front. I think they look bada$$ on a all black car with tinted windows.(the raven) no problem at all with the backs but one in the front keeps trying to come off. I washed it then thorougly wiped the area with alchohol. but still giving me trouble. maybe 120 mph runs gettin under there? any if you find out let me know!!!???? by the way you did'nt mention are you having trouble with the back or front?

Cool

I have had mine on the back for several years now. They aren't coming off... they are extremely tight on my car. One thing you need to make certain of is that you have them fully pressed in against the tail light.

Another thing to try is to loosen your tail light thumb type screws, make sure the cover is snug against the tail light then, while pushing down and in on the tail light, tighten all your thumb screws. You might get lucky and this may hold it tighter to the car.

I'll move this over to the Appearance Forum too

ya...just try and adjust them and make sure they are snuggly when you close the trunk...i do remember one day a few years back...when i first got them...one fell off while the light was red and some lady ran up to my car behind me and was like "here" this fell off...i was kinda startled at first b/c she kinda jumped out of no where but i cant believe it fell off at that exact time while i had just stopped and she even got out of her car to get it for me on a busy street! thank you for that lady! hhehehe good luck!

I've had my front ones fly off the car three times in two years. Even after I'd stopped taken them off when I washed the car. The back ones never flew off, but a few times I would get home and look at the back of my car, and they would be half hanging off.

Maybe you can put a screw in the top lip of the rear cover? No one would see it, don't know if it would work though.

Also try calling the company and complaining. I know the GTS front covers use to have a six month warranty, but somebody else bought the company and changed it to 90 days. Even if it is out of warranty they will sell you a single one for a decent price, instead of buying a whole new set.

I have a set of used rear GTS blackouts, email me if you are interested. I'll sell them cheap.

Talking

I guess I was just lucky to never have one fly off when I used to have them on. But I know one of them was always wedged on nicely because all my panels are misaligned and whatnot. It actually would get pinched and hold in place.

and no they don't look ricey, they look tacky
