Post How do I polish my stock exhaust tips?

I just got them off, and looking to polish them to last until I change exhaust. How much work is it, and what products/tools do I need to polish them? Is it better just to paint them black? Thanks guys!

I thought they were plastic? If they are, you cant polish plastic.

if you've got z-28 tips i just painted mine chrome, looks like silver but it was easy, if you really want high polish you'll have to take them somewhere, all it takes is a polsihing wheels and some polish, and a 30,000 rpm bench grinder but that stuff it pretty expensive but it will work really well. maybe a small machine shop or something. if you get them polished i would clearcoat them to protect them from corrosion. I know some company makes the tips in chrome but i'm sure they're really expensive.

The car is a 94 Z28, with the offset rectangular tips. Thanks for the advice, anyone tried the polishing wheels?

They are anodized stainless steel.
It is a ton of work to get the coating off, then polish them... so not worth it. I did a set and it took me a week working every night for a few hours.
You can get a set already polished with exchange from RK sport I think, I wished I had by the time I was through.
As far as clearcoating, they are stainless, not cast aluminum, so they will keep their shine virtually forever as long as you keep them clean.
