hood idea need feedback..

Well i think i am finally getting my SS hood painted soon. i place to go with a black hood and paint the scoop gun metal but had another idea and wanted some feed back.

I was thinking about instead of painted the scoop gun metal what would you think it would look like it i painted it flat black?? Kind of like the color of the berger panels are for the back on the camaros..

Not a bad idea. Granted they are different cars but Old and New Mach 1's both pull off the flat black hoods on black cars.

I think that would be awesome, I would do satin black though flat black starts to turn brownish after awhile sometimes. Maybe put a silver or red pin stripe around the border too?

I don't think so. Maybe if you get wax on it. My flat black on my 69 Mach 1 has been there for 5 years now and its holding up great, but i think the guy has a great idea.

I really don't like the look when a hood and its scoop are different colors. It almost looks like you just bought a fake scoop and slapped it on there, IMHO.

Personally, i'd have the hood painted the same color as the car.

Hum well either way the scoop is getting painted a different color. I just don't want to to look like every other SS hood out there and from what i've seen the scoops on LT1 are rarely painted. I've only seen one in person with the scoop painted and it looked pretty good but had no pen striping on it which IMO would of made it look alot better.

I guess i'm going to play around with the idea and see what i can come up with. I was thinking about making the scoop and then something else flat/satin black so it would look alot more inplace.

Does anyone know if they painted the hood and i don't like the scoop if they can just repaint the scoop part or do they have to redo the whole hood? Either way it should be cheap since i'm having a friends hook me up.
