high temp paint on vortec elbow for lt1

I will be getting a vortec elbow in the mail and dont like the color of it. would it look alright if I painted it with some black high temp paint? or is there a better way to go about this?

Personally, I would stay away from painting it. Unless you have the capability to put a strong clear coat on it after the hi-temp paint, I doubt it will hold up to the heat, let alone being that place in your engine bay, it is destined to get scratched or knicked here or there.

Best thing to do IMO, is to get it powdercoated. The powdercoating will take the abuse from the temps, and is very difficult to scratch or ruin.

Thats the route I went on my intake, and it has held up, and looked great from day one;

I painted my elbow with regular flat black paint, it was just the alum one with no paint/polish/chrome....... Its been 5 years now and no problems...

I like the stock look.....

yeah powder coat would be ideal, since my buddy does that to his motorcycle parts. I will get a quote and compare it to regular paint.

thanks for the feedback from both of you, its nice to know my options.

If you're patient, and don't mind doing some wet sanding/buffing, you can use Duplicolor "High Heat 500F" engine enamel + clearcoat and end up with something like this:
