Question Hidden wiring mod???

I remember reading about this a LONG time ago, and I cant remember what was involved. I would like to not only clean up my own crappy wiring jobs, but also the factory wiring this summer and would love to see a page outlining what was needed to hide the wires comin along the passenger side engine compartment wheel well. Thanks for any and all info!

Re: Hidden wiring mod???

Is this the ASR module on the LS1's???? ASR Module? If so, is there any way to be able to modify that to be used on an LT1???

Yeah, that the LS1 traction control but I have no idea if it can be adapted to be used on an LT1. I know that the Trac Control is a real PIA to deal with. My buddy thought about deleting his on his 1996 Z but finally gave up and I have seen many threads on this and I have not seen anyone yet that has successfully deleted it yet.

Yeah, I dont mind having ASR at all, I just hate having that big black box on my valve cover. Ill need to look into adapting that ASR module to an LT1 a lil more of possibly just moving mine over to that area. The only problem would be getting throttle cables long enough.

If the ASR unit is the same, I wouldn't think that making the throttle cables longer would be that big of a deal. Of course, every time I think a project of mine is going to be easy, it isn't.

Just finished mine up. I removed the connector (only one connector on the 94's ) Made sure to write down what color went to what letter. Drilled a 3/4" hole right below the inner PCM hold down bolt hole, so the wire loom gets somewhat crushed inbetween the PCM and the shock tower.

Also relocated the positive and ground. Instead of using a terminal type connection for the positive. I got rid of the little red box completely. Just used a bolt and connected them all together.

The negitive, I drilled a small hole down about 1/2 way between where the ps fluid resivoir & battery tray/coolant resivoir are. Used a small bolt/nut on the negitive too.

Very easy to do.

The red box is there for protection. Its suppose to melt in two if you ever have a short. That way it prevents all the wires from getting melted before they hit the fuse panel.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into putting it back in, and still keeping it hidden.

There was a mod that SLP (I think) sold so that the traction control stayed off unless you hit the switch. I guess it just reversed the switch?

Re: Hidden wiring mod???

Removing the box is what people usually care about, not actually having it and turning it on and off

Yes, you are right. I have seen those advertised but I don't know that much about them since I have never had TCS. It would be a good option for just being able to turn it off, but if you are wanting to delete the entire system, I don't think that it will help much.

Re: Hidden wiring mod???

Only problem is thats a LS1 car so they don't have the little red box that all of the positive terminal wires gather. Also I'm not so sure that the bolt on the bracket is a good soild ground.
