HID ballast mounting

I ordered my HID kit from BFxenon.com and I'm wondering where people have mounted their ballasts. Anyone mount them in a bad spot? I was thinking of pulling my battery and air intake to drill out the back side of the radiator support and mount them on the front under the lip. Suggestions?

I have 12k hid in my 4th gen lt1 and i mounted the ballast on each side of the radiator. If you look at the space on either side ull see there's a spot where you can put em. I used 3m thick velcro and fit perfect they do not move or get wet when you wash your car. I dont have pics of where I mounted em. But I can get them later if you dont know where Im talking bout.

I mounted mine in the same location, thanks! These are 6k btw. Mounting them on the rad support would have been more trouble than it was worth and upon further investigation the area is not flat like I thought it was.

Now I'm thinking about doing the high beams...

Looks good! I had the 8k in there before and then i swapped them for the 12k. Much brighter and way better than the factory junk. Im also puttin the same ones in high beams as well.

Where did you all get your housings from or did you just pop the bulbs out of the regular sealed beams?

I used my stock headlight housings. I carefully took out the old bulbs. Theres a write up about it and how to do it. I used the 9006 bulb for my lows and going to use the same for my highs.

I just popped my lights out of the sealed beams. I used high temp RTV to seal them in place and two small dabs of JB weld so they can't back out. 15 seconds with a dremel will remove the JB weld for when they have to be replaced. I used the 9005 for my lows and I can't express how much better than stock these work. I can see way down the road and reflective things look much more reflective. The majority of the light is casting in the right place so I'm not blinding other drivers either.

HIDs should not be used in the high beams, HIDs need to warm up and turning on and off in the high beam location will destroy the blaster's in a hurry.

If you want to do something a little more custom (like OEM). You can build some plates like this (billet aluminum, powdercoated, stainless hardware and German ballasts (H4 mains, H3 fogs). I did this setup about 2 years ago.

Here's mine

Mine is similar, more junk under the bumper though. I Have 2 Ballasts, one laying on the frame rail for the headlights low beam, and the one on the side of the rail for the driving lights.

And with the cover back on. I have to install the grill and front spoiler.
