Help with Wheels!!!!

Ok I have a '97 Trans Am with the stock, 16x8 wheels. I've got it narrowed down between two wheels that I want. But I don't know if I should get 17x8's or 16x8's. No One can seem to tell me a definent answer. I know if u go up in wheel size u have to go down in tire size to keep the ride height the same.

So would 17x8's with 245/45/17 be good. A guy told me at a tireshop that with this selection the sidewall would be too short.
And he also said that bigger wheel sizes will actually slow ur car down. Is this true?

Any help is appreciated!

P.S The wheel I'd really like to have is American Racing Torque Thrusts ll's

In my opinion, If you go with an 8" wheel, from the back or front, it will make the car look narrow and not as mean. I would go with a 17"x9" or 9.5" wheel. Those are the most common sizes. They will help the car to look very good. A 275/40/17 is the perfect size for both wheels and is plenty of sidewall. There are no issues with that wheel/tire combo.

One more thing, the other wheel i'm thinking about is the stock 17x9 that comes with the new WS6 packagage. It's a five spoke with thick spokes and a good inset.

anybody know where i can get this wheel from, i looked at SLP's website and they didn't have them there.

??

Go with the chrome zr1 wheel from slp they are 17x9.5 looks awesome i paid 2000 for whels/tires/lugs/chrome caps/and balanced. I'm sorry i dont have a picture to show you but i love then and when the car is lowered like mine it makes it even better looking. GOOD LUCK

Don't go with 17x8 and DEFINATELY not 16x8, go with 17x9.5 or 18x9.5 at least. For tires you can go 275-40-17 or 275-35-18 for the 9.5 widths. Go to www.tirerack.com and I think they have a tire size calculator or do a search on yahoo for "tire size calculator"

If you do enough research you can find some Corvette 18 inch replicas for about 260 each which is realy cheap for chrome 18 inchers. You can also get 17". If you want some I'll find out where I got mine.

In my opinion, the polished WS6 (96-00) and the polished ZR1 wheels are the 2 best looking stock wheels ever made. They just look bad ***. Either of those 2 wheels will look bad *** on your T/A. You will not regret geting either of them.

As far as where to get them, the WS6 wheels, you will prolly have to find somebody selling them and the ZR1's, look on ebay. They are always on there. I did see some WS6 wheels on ebay as well.
