Head LIght Conversion

Anyone else not like your sealed beam headlights?
I didn't, I just finished doing my own headlight conversion on them, I looked on the internet and I found this one website that sold conversion kits but they were 80 dollars for the Lows and 110 for the Highs. So I went out and bought the brightest, and the best headlights ever Sylvania SilverStars they are really cool looking and bright. I bought 9006st (Lows) and 9005st (highs).

i started with taking out one of the low beam light fixtures and i was like well i may break it but whatever, if you take a flat screwdriver and pry around the factory bulb, it will come out, so then all i did was run a bead of Silicone around the rim of the light housing, stuck in the bulb (make sure they are angled in the right direction) and ran another bead of silicone around the outside once the bulb is in where the bulb meets the housing, after it dried i put them in and i have to say it looks sweet... i picked up the bulbs at a local part store for a total of about $80, for $80 i think this was a sweet self-mod, they are very bright and not only does it improve visibility it adds that kool HID look.

1. This mod has been done for years...glad you found out about it

2. You paid too much for those bulbs.

3. You probably should have used the 9005's on both.

I'm not trying to flame but what is the big deal about having really bright lights? I see them all the time and I think it's annoying and dangerous when oncoming cars nearly blind me with their lights. The areas where I drive are pretty well lit and I could probably still see with no headlights at all. So I don't understand the need for more light and areas that are not lit and no cars are around I use my highs. Sometimes I get people flashing their highs at me when using my factory low beams let alone increasing the amount of light I am not wanting to start anything just trying to understand why everyone does this

Edit: although I don't like bright lights, That's cool that you did the mod yourself and saved some cash

I don't know about the headlights in the TA, but the stockers on the Camaro are horrible (to put it nicely!). I just finished installing Hella FF75 housings in mine and the difference is unreal! Personally, I did this because I can't see well enough at night and wanted to have more light. I drive to work at 3:30am and there's usually just enough traffic to keep me from using my highs for extended periods and it's a pain to have to flip them on and off around every turn.

I have never had that happen. I even drove with my high beams on one night on accident and no one flashed their highs at me

the stock LT1 Trans Am lights are garbage as well, I should have got some PIAA 510s while I had the chance.
