Does anyone else have any before after pics of headlight replacements? Or links to other install pages?

Re: Has anyone replaced just the bulb in their sealed beam light with a better one?
Quote: The last time I blew a headlight, I removed just the bulb from the headlight(sealed beam) housing. It looks like a pretty standard bulb. In my opinion the factory lighting on these cars is borderline dangerous, especially on the roads I'm on. I was wondering if anyone has replaced just the bulb in their sealed beam with a brighter one, and if so, where I can buy this bulb. I prefer something I can get locally, because I have a light out, and need to get it replaced today.

Thanks
John
I replaced both low-beams with the stock sealed beams. All lighting gets dimmer as they age and new ones help. I do wish there was a higher powered more durable sealed beam with out going to too much trouble and expense.

I used silverstars in the stock housings for low and high beams. RTVed them into place, they work 10 times better then stock lights.

That is basically my main option, possibly using Hella bulbs that Cmr0z28 found instead. Got any part numbers and where to get them? How much better on the road? How did it impove the car's looks? Do they match the Fog lights?

MY car is a fog light delete. The bulbs make the stock housings a very slight blue tint with the headlights off, the light output is much whiter then stock. Sure light up the road better.

Most of the lighting stuff is talked about in the Appearance Section so I'll move this there.

Well for the most part I hav narrowed it down to the Silverstars and mabye even the higher wattage Hella bulbs which are like 80/100 I think. Any opinions on that. More than likely the Silverstars though since everyone seems to have good results and they are easier to get.

I just changed my front lights to a H.I.D. set up,
it's cost about $600,but to me it was worth it.

Well I bought the Silverstars on account that Spinner just might know what the hell he is talking about. Unless more information is presented on the Hella 100w version I am putting these in.

If your a lazy sod, like me, you can buy this kit from this guy; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW , and up date later to HID. This is a nice product with 4 units and bulbs of your choice. I also got the correct connectors for these bulbs from Chevy. Makes for a nice install.

Quote: if you're adventuresome and have $200, you can go to a full projector setup. better beampattern than stock, which is what really makes the difference. i've put some upgraded bulbs in my 93 toyota, then i finially purchased hella housings. they actually put the light in a usefull place on the road. as soon as i finish the valve work on my Z, i plan on doing this mod: http://bellsouthpwp.net/m/u/mulgeary/Hella90/index.htm
I use to not like the way that looked but it is growing on me like crazy. I may just have to take on that mod.

You shouldn't need any different bulb adapters from Chevy for those if he sent the right bulbs.

That is the same exact thing as the AutoOptiks kits that have been for sale by a ton of different suppliers for a long time.

If you want more info on that - search AutoOptiks.

You should quickly find 95% of users hate them (myself inculded) and have had very ill results with them.

I wish you the best of luck with them though - I hope they work for you.

Re: Has anyone replaced just the bulb in their sealed beam light with a better one?
Well I just tried to order the 100w and 80w Hella bulbs for $10/each and they no longer make them. So, thinking that the silverstars cost me $70 for both LB/HB, why not go the extra mile and get the Hella FF75's and get some damn good looks out of them too. You guys think that is a better performing and looking option? If so,do I just use the driving version for both LB and HB or what? How does that work? Will I still have Hghbeams? Thanks guys.

I've done responded to you in the other thread, but for anyone else, yes, you will use the driving lights for LB and HB, and you will have both. The only difference is HB's will just be more light instead of a "brighter" light now. Still, it is worth it.

The looks alone are worth it.
