gauge needle question

Are the needles in our cars painted that orange color or are they orange all the way through?

Re: gauge needle question

It's an orange backing. It's not all the way threw, I've sanded mine down and made them clear.

Re: gauge needle question

Thanks alot man.Thats what I wanted to here .The reason I needed to know is I found a kit to make the needles glow bright blue.I'm doing the leds in my gauges and I don't really like the orange color of the needles.Heres a link to the kit.

What grit of sandpaper did you use to sand them down? Also when you get them to a clear. How would you go about making them red? Any ideas?

Just red touch up paint would probably do the job.
