Re: Fog light HIDS

well i did this a while back and im going to switch them back.. they are not very useful as the stock lights are not projector housing and the beam is kinda all over the place. u can just buy a plug and play kit tho. should run you like 100 or so for a good one or ebay like 40 for a cheap 1

for yours, you should. or find very low powered (think 15W) HIDs, so you dont blind people. wont be much use though.

Re: Fog light HIDS

I put some hids in mine a while back .The fogs were just plug and play. The headlight are the ones I had to do custom. I pulled the elements out of my lt1 stock lights and fixed the hid bulbs into them. I liked them for a while but now I am thinking of going back to the stockers. I have adjusted them several times. I find them to be more show than usefull. I can see street signs far away but can see right in front of me. We do alot of them at the store I work for and I find them more novelty than anything. Its a fad and I got caught up in it for a minute. They were free to me so I thought why not. Most kits are not reliable either. Sometimes they light on the first try sometimes you have to turn the lights back off and on to get one to fire. We have tried many different brands all cheap (affordable) of coarse. To me not worth the effort.

Re: Fog light HIDS

I have an audio store and one of our employees was like the king of hid lights in our area. We pretty much just let him do his own side business as long as it didn't get in the way of our regular work. He just would go to a distributor and pick them up. He said the place would just grab the products out of random boxes from China and put them into hid boxs of what ever brand. He brought in many different brand labeled boxes. THe products all looked the same. Chrome plated ballast and no name bulbs. I questioned him about it and he said the place said they were all pretty much the same at that price level. The had a retail price of $100 pr. I paid nothing. They were pretty much hit or miss. Some cars work better than others. In the camaro the problem could be the headlighs are set so far back. Its possible that lowerering the beam would be better however I found I couldnt get it low enough to matter. Fogs were ok. just the head lights I dont care for. The beams dont focus enough.

Re: Fog light HIDS

An HID in a halogen housing is always going to glare and not have the proper focus- its not going to matter how far back they are set.
