Opinions on some cheap visual mods...

So its sort of a cheap car I got. Not looking to drop a fortune, but I always like to spice up the looks of my cars.

Ideally I would love a set of SS 10-spokes or Zr1s, but none really come up locally, and not looking to spend alot.

Either way, I was planning to do painted 17s and clear corners.

Since rims aren't really coming up as I hoped I was thinking of keeping stock snowflakes(maybe repaint in factory color, they clear is pealing a little) and clear corners.

or possibly going to the black/chrome clear corners, and maybe painting the wheels gunmetal. Just curious on some opinions of either.

As a reminder, I got the car for $2k and recleared the nose with a rattle can, so please don't suggest $1200 of rims and $800 worth of tires. :P

I painted my wheels back in the day (gun metal wheel spray paint) and it turned out ok, it's all about the prep work:

I would go with smoked signals for your color, some cheap JDM style ebay headlights (around $100) a front grill. All that stuff is pretty cheap

I was considering doing the gunmetal wheels, whistler mod on headlights and dark turn signals.

In baking the headlights, i was going to sand down and polish the little bit of haze I have and clearcoat the lens.

Seems like you can go 2 ways... Dark or Light...

Light(kind of what I was going for minus the grill and SS stuff)

Or this(I also was considering doing light silver racing striped as well.

Dark maybe even black stripes(I was thinking with the wheels, gunmetal over black.. because I think with black you need a chrome lip, I am sure I could work it but way more work then I want to put into it)

Plasti Dip your roof, side mirrors, sail panel, rear panel and rims black and add 35th Anver SS stripes aand your car would be money. race stripes would cost the most.

Re: Opinions on some cheap visual mods...

get clear corners, sidemarkers, and 3rd brake light from ebay. i got mine for ~$65 for the set, bulbs included (through i replaced all mine with LEDs), and they completely changed the look of the car. id also paint the rims the same as johhny6's, though i havent done that yet. i also got a set of nice projector headlights with HIDs, but those cost me $400, so it might not be what you're looking for.

I really dig that gloss 2 -tone grill on that maroon car, I think you should get a factory grill & paint it gloss black. Get all the clear lights, paint the wheel dark gun metal, polish you headlights & paint and spend the rest on interior.

the whistler mod is cheap and easy and definitely looks good, changing the gauge cluster bulbs to leds to your color of choice really makes the interior look good, and if you do paint the rims tape off the outside edge and leave it silver, i did it on mine and it really looks unique

Pl;astic dip is like a plastic coating, not so much a paint. Hard to explain.

either way here is a set of wheels that were plastic diped. (on a G6, just saw pics of it around the same time I was reading this thread again.)
