fog light bulb wattage for an upgrade

i'm looking into doing the fog light upgrade. i want to buy some bulbs that will fit into the stock housings on hte camaro. i am already planning on upgradding the electircal system to handle extra wattage using the info from this thread.

i want to match the fog lights as close as possible to the sylvania silverstars that i just upgraded my headlights to.

does any one know the wattage of the following bulbs.
890, 892,893, 894
those should all fit the stock housing.

i found some 890's at Advance Auto but the box didnt' list any wattage or any lumins information.

and does anyone know of a place online to purchase hyperwhite bulbs?

If you are running the stock housings, there will be no need to upgrade the wiring. Reason being there isn't a high wattage bulb that you can buy for the stock housings. The 885 is the highest wattage bulb in that family I believe, so you harness will be fine with whatever bulb you use in the stock housing.

885 cross references are: 880, 890, 892, 893, 884 (You had some/most of those...but take note that those bulbs mostly have lower wattages than the 885, and may have a straight plug other than a 90º like the 885.

You can search on Google or MSN for "Hyperwhite 885 Bulbs" and you should find quite a few hits. The only place I have bookmarked is here. The last bulb in the first column is a hyperwhite 885 bulb. I have no idea how they "perform."

A fog light upgrade is an easy fix to getting the color bulbs you want...there are many fog lights out there that are similar to the stockers in shape, that use an H3 bulb (which is available up to 130 watts). Maybe that will help you out some.

anyone familiar with this company, they make a kit that includes the lights and a harness that they claim adapts to the stock equipment, specifically for the 93-97 Z's....

any input?

blackbowtie how much would you say it cost you to install those pilot lights on your car? including lights, hardware and all that?
is $95 for a complete kit, not having to hassle with finding correct hardware and crap worth it?

It probably costed me about $45 total...
I got the lights on sale for like $35...bought some wire ends, etc. and some bolts.

I wouldn't pay $95 for that...although it does sounds enticing. You could escape much cheaper than that though. My guide is very comprehensive, so it shows you the wiring connections and all, so that isn't that big of a deal. Those lights are a little rounded. Here is a little better pic. I don't know what kind of fit up they have for them to use the stock mounting hardware, but if you are basing it on price mainly, $95 isn't worth it.

Either way though...you can probably expect the same light output from either of the lamps ("mine" or the others).

Any other ?'s just post man, I am more than glad to help out when/where I can.

thanks for the input, my only concern is that i won't be able to find the right compontents and hardware down here in the keys...stores tend to not stock all the same parts as other store in the country

maybe i'll see about getting them as a birthday present...then i could care less about the price
