Fix a fiberglass hood?

I week ago I hit a pole with my 1999 Camaro SS. I have to replace the fender and bumper and it ripped a small hole in the front of the hood. It's only about a couple square inches of damage to a hood otherwise in mint condition. Is there anyway to fix/patch/repair a fiberglass good without spending all the money to buy a new one? Thanks.

Fiberglass kit and bondo and LOTS of sanding/shaping.

I took out a piece of mine before too on my firebird, about the same size. The body shop I took it to made it look just like new...

It's honestly not even necessary to take it to a shop, if it's only a few square inches. You can find a fiberglass repair kit for $10 - $12 at your local Pep Boys. It will require you to lay matting, pour your mixed resin (resin and a few drops of hardener), lay more matting, pour, so on and so fourth. Then begins the seemingly endless sanding and shaping. In the end use either bondo or filler to eliminate the small imperfections, and you're done. It can all be done within one day.

It's not so simple if you've never done body work before I'm sure. Plus, mine was already going in the shop anyways, I hit a deer doing 45mph and had to have a fender and front bumper replaced, hood fixed, and everything painted...that's why mine was just fixed at a body shop, lol.

I've used the fiberglass bondo kit before on my previous third gen. It is insane how well that stuff works. I was skeptical but man, once that stuff dries it is rock solid. As stated above, just take your time sanding and contouring it neatly and fill in the surface imperfections with regular Bondo or Bondo Glazing Spot Putty.

wow - thats pretty funny (in ironic way) i hit a pole 3 weeks ago - have new bumper- and right fender sitting in living room -

hood has a crack about inch long and jsut some rough spots in that spot - so im re-fiberglassing it in 4 weeks when i go home- it isnt too difficult - just take ur time and work in layers. then lots of sanding

So I should go to Pep Boys and buy a fiberglass repair kit? Does that come with fiberglass sheets to patch the actual hole?

You could, but I got all of that stuff from Wal-Mart. They are pretty common items.

If you just want to cover up the hole and don't care what it looks like then, yep, that'll work. However, if you want to have it look like it did before, take it to a body shop... IMO of course
