Finished puttin 98+ Bezel in my 95 TA
I want to do this too. So you have to buy the lense too? So $31 plus shipping? It says it will cover the 4 small gauge icons (fuel, volt, oil $ temp) on the camaro, I'll look into that. Reall y is a nice piece though, I just got done installing a steering wheel with radio controls and a new shifter boot and shorting my automatic shifter so i'm really getting into making the interior nicer, I would like to get leather but $800 is a lot of money, two weeks salary you know.
How much work is involved in installing this, the lense seems to be glued on, how do you get it off?? do you have to take the whole assembly out and access it from the back? That would suck. I'm trying to decide if it's worth saving $20 to get the piece of crap off ebay.

I put this on my '01 Z. Didn't have many problems. There was a little tab at top I had to remove. This may ave been something to do with the Granatelli 200MPH overlay I had. I was pretty easy to do. I can remove the cluster in well under 10 minutes. It comes with the lens and bezel. The bezel is glued in, but since they come together, there is no need to modify the stock lens.
You remove the panel under the steering wheel. I remove the bezel from around the radio. Remove the little panel from behind the tilt handel. Then remove the 2 screws from the black pastic trim that goes round the cluster. Then pull on the bottom to loosen the pop clip. Remove trim. Then there are 4 screws that hold the cluster in. Remove them and then you should be able to get to the tabs that hold the lens on. Loosen the top 2 and then the bottom 4 should come off easy. Reemove the lens and do the reverse to put back together.

removing that small cover under the tilt handle is the worst part, I was going to do that to put my steering wheel on and i couldn't get the thing off in one piece, it would have broke it if I squeezed any more. I messed the one up on my old car and it never fit right again. So that makes me think against it.
So do you glue the bezel in or does it snap in? I still Hate to buy the lens, I don't need that but the pieces off ebay are crappy looking so it's probably worth the extra $20. Maybe it's cheaper at the dealership and there you don't have to pay shipping. I will check.

I think I paid $20 somthing for mine from the dealer. I have had no problem fromt he piece behind the tilt handle. I have had it off dozens of times and it goes right back on no problem. The Bezel comes glued to the lens from the dealer ship, ready to install. The whole lens/bezel clips on the cluster like the stock camaro lens does.
Yes it was a simple install for the birds too. All you do it take off the dash trim piece that goes around the bezel and headlight controls. Then take out the lense and the bezel. There are a lot of screws to take out to get both the old bezel and old lense out, not to mention some right down next to the steering column.
After you get the old pieces out, the new is held in by like 4 screws. You will have screws left over cuz the new bezel already has the lense glued to it so you don't have to screw that down separate. After you are done with that put the dash panel back on and your all set.
BTW, that piece behind the tilt lever....I did need to take that off and holy **** was it a pain to get back on, but I didn't break it.

So the bezel and lens are one piece? That's seems odd. I went to the pontiac dealer and the chevy dealer and they both concluded that I had to buy the entire gauge cluster housing. Should I go back and ask for the lense that has the trim or should I just get the piece off the internet noted at th beginning of this post?
The trim bezel (the black rings around the guages) and the lense (clear plastic piece) are glued together. They can't be bought separate and you don't have to buy the whole guage cluster. If I were you I would just buy it from www.macewenmotorsports.com
The one that you get from the dealer would have to be modified cuz it doesn't fit correctly w/o having to have some stuff grinded off of the back side of the bezel. If you get it at Macewen MS, it will come all ready to install, with the modifications already done.

I think you only have to modify for the older pontiacs, not the '98+ Camaros. If you ask for the bezel, the dealer will try and give you the black plastic piece that is infront of the gauges. The dealer just calls it the lens. I have the dealer part # somewhere if you want.
