Fiberglassed Dash Complete!!! Pics...
Hey guys,
Finally I can say the dash is complete, here are some pics. After just under 60 hours of work into it!! When I get back home @ Thanksgiving from school, I will wet sand it, and polish it, I've knocked the highbuild down to 320 before I layed color down, and you can definately tell from the depth!!! Still no word on the Carbon Fiber for the Targa Top, Hurricane Wilma still has my supplier without power. Hopefull it'll be there waiting on me for Thanksgiving weekend, so I can get that done, and the dash installed, as well as guages,a nd everything in, and get you some more pics!! For now...enjoy....

That looks excellent! I am just about to do all of this myself as well, could you possibly explain your technique here? I have all of the interior parts ready, I know some shops that could do it for me but I was thinking of trying it myself..Is the only place you use fiberglass on the airbag? The rest just sand the plastic smooth then primer? I can paint, just need the info on how to set it all up.
Re: Fiberglassed Dash Complete!!! Pics...
I used 80 grit to rough the vinyl up, then fiberglass resin to fill in the Airbag seam, and AIR BAG lettering, then used resing all over sanding it to 220, then regular filler till 220, then used a final glaze compound till 220, then shot 3 passes of High Build Epoxy Primer, and sanded it to 220, then another pass of High Build, then up to 320, then 3 coats of color, and 2 coats of a high Gloss Polyurethane clear....
All of the interior will be the same way....

Nice, very nice!!!
So i got some comp. in the glassing area now huh? I'm about to take my dash outta my 2000 camaro. I've already glass'd the amp rack and molded in a 5.6 screen, and my door panels are coming out in about an hour (too cold right now). But my Iroc............... Well search around and you'll see my work, the door panels on that are too sick (2-6.5's, 1-4",1-1" and a 7" screen) for each door panel.
What else you got planned? Yea Black looks sooo good when it's painted over "properly" prepped pieces. Good job, I cant wait to see whatcha got comin next. Dont forget to come back and update with the installed pics. When ya get a minute, check out my work, I play no games LOL!!
BTW my 2000 camaro will be 100% glass'd by spring, including the floors!!
