fiberglass hood

I have a fiberglass cowl induction hood on the way, and I'm curious about the prepping necessary for it to last. I've heard this and I've heard that.......What I'm mostly concerned about is whether or not it's required to have the hood fitted, installed, and drive the car for approx. a month (without paint) to let it "settle" and conform to the shape and integrity of the car. I'm guessing this eliminates warping from heat and cracking the paint. Any tips from those of you with fiberglass hoods on how to go about this correctly. Have you had any problems? I asked the manufacturer and they weren't very much help.
