Enlighten me on how to remove the cassette holder please!

I'm trying to make a panel to cover the cassette holder up and mount a guage in. Can anyone tell me how to remove this stupid thing. I took the bolt out of the back, don't tell me the whole damned console has to come out just for this.

all you can do is break it. Its plastic "welded" to the console, i guess you could break it off then put some screws through the console into the casette holder.

You make a template in the car, then make the panel outside of the car, and then leave the cassette holder in place. As Kyle said above, melted plastic tabs straight to the console.

Yeah, it's how they attach the upholstered panels of our door panels to the armrest part of the door panel too -- seems like they liked that method. When I went to reupholster the cloth with red vinyl, it was a bitch to reattach because it *WAS* held on by melted tabs that I cut off lol.
