Engine Compartment Clean up

It is a mess under my hood. What are some things I can do to organize and clean everything up a bit? Is there anything I can do to free up some room? I already know I need to re-route the power wire to go through the passenger side and the red and blue wires by the brake fluid are about to be hooked up so they will be out of the way. I know I need some greased lightning too!

Theres going to be alot of simple green in your future. Being that you have a white car everything is going to show. I would do something with that Sub Wire going across the engine bay. Its just going to require alot of elbow grease and cleaning supplies.

Lot of work ahead! But it can be fun. LT1 engine bays nowadays seem all too dirty, so you will have a lot of satisfaction after completing the job. Polishing all of the metal (fuel rails, AC lines , etc.) will be the most beneficial. Prepare to spend a good couple hours on it.

Just clean and replace the worn out parts, it'll be the best use of your time and look best in my opinion. My sister's engine bay isn't completely clean, but after replacing the red junction block on the left and cleaning the bay out with some cleaner, it looks a lot better.

I just used some weak cleaner (grocery store brand orange colored and scented multipurpose cleaner/degreaser), some paper towels, a toothbrush, and a water spray bottle full of water. Simple Green seemed more powerful than I was willing to use.

Did you remove the fuel rails when you polished them?

yeah, i unbolted them but left the fuel lines hooked up and just polished them in the car. it would be a lot easier to unhook the fuel lines but i did not have the tool and didnt want to go and buy it. i also did the a/c lines while i was at it. just takes a lot of rubbing with the polishing compound
