I'm kind of hoping you might have some sort of ordering guide or press release or something from SLP that might say.
Off the top of my head (at work ) I believe the dual-dual was optional on all 97 SS cars. I'll see if I can find some official paperwork that clearly states it. And if so, I'll scan it that way when you put it on your website, you'll feel confident in it.

Dual-dual replaced the optional 2-on-the-left style system early in the 1997 model year. It was also available as an option to the standard Z28 exhaust.

The later dual-duals also had the infamous "cone of silence" pipe diameter reducer on the inlet side of the muffler. This was because of the new Federal exhaust noise standards enacted in 1997.

My car is towards the end of the 1997 Production and was ordered the optional 2OTL.

The 1997 Camaro SS Owner's Manual Supplement only shows 2OTL information. The "Optional Performance Exhaust System" and Exhaust Part #'s all contain 2OTL information. No hints at a dual-dual system being offered per the owner's manual supplement. I know the Z28 rectangle exhaust was standard both years with the 2OTL being an optional exhaust upgrade as a SLP option, but don't see any concrete evidence for the dual-dual. If it was offered, I believe it was later on in the 1997 production.

I have seen several.

There is one on EBay right now:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/specia...exhaust-2.html

The "cone of silence" pipe diameter reducer was on the 2OTL 1997 cars.
This topic was discussed in great detail on the old SLP message board.

If so, please take a good one for use on my site if there haven't been any appearance modifications. Needs to be the front 3/4 like that pic, but without the nose and rearend cut off. That seller never emailed me back, so I didn't receive a pic.

I'd like a pic of one of the wheels too if your wheels are spotlessly clean and the original silver 16" ZR-1 style wheels. A pic like this 16 inch ZR-1 wheel used on the '01-'02 SLP RS Camaros (supposedly a different color of silver than the silver used on the '96-'97 SS convertible wheels):

Those 16" wheels look familiar! (by the way, I still have these wheels)

They are off of my old 2002 RS and are the exact same silver color as on the 1996-97 SS cars.

The 1996-97 SLP wheels were not made by the same manufacturer as the painted SS wheels used on the 1998-1999 SS cars.

Differences:
The 1998-99 wheels were a darker shade of silver, and had a heavier dose of metallic flakes in the paint. They also have a molded in "GM" logo on the outer rim.

The SLP wheels did not have any GM markings, just the "JWL" markings.

Re: ebay find of the week: extremely rare '97 sebring silver SS hardtop

Vance just reminded me of something.

For the page, I am going to need/want a video of a 100% stock SS with the dual-dual starting up and revving. The video needs to be taken from behind the car. If it was available without the silencer, then I suppose I need 2 videos.

If anybody with an SS without aftermarket modifications can make the video(s) for me, I'd appreciate it. I've looked on youtube in the past, and nothing exists.

Vance-- that wheel issue sounds like something similar that happened on Grand Prix GXP's like mine. From 2005-6 Alcoa made the wheels, and then 2007-8 GM started making the wheels and they were a bit different. Very interesting.

I've kind of been dreading doing the '97 SSes because of all the quirks. '96 is easy. '97 is not.

I agree based on what I've read/seen as well. Didn't know the 96-97 SS wheels were made by a different manufacturer though.

This was due to the fact that in 96 & 97 all SS's were done at SLP. GM sent Z28's to SLP to have the hoods, spoilers, exhaust, wheels, etc. install, they were then sent to customer or dealers for sale. In 98+ the "base" SS's were all done on the GM assembly line, and only sent to SLP for additional content ordered by the customer. Hence different wheel venders.

The TOTL exhaust followed the same pattern. The early TOTL exhaust did not meet the db standard and had the "cone of of silence" added in late 96 or early 97. So there is no reason to suspect that the dual/dual would not have been the same.

Re: ebay find of the week: extremely rare '97 sebring silver SS hardtop

Hello everyone. I just found this site while researching a '97 SS I recently picked up in a trade. It's almost identical to the one in the first post with the exception of the interior and trans. Mine has the grey cloth and a AT. The only mods to mine appear to be an aftermarket Borla exhaust with dual/dual tips. LMK if anyone here needs any pics of any specific areas and I'll see what I can do.

The car is in excellent shape with only some very minor maintenance quirks. I'll search the site for solutions to those rather than hi-jacking the thread here.

It's pretty incredible that this topic seems to have brought so many sebring silver SSes out of the wood work!

bh4mr1ck is going to take just about every picture I need I think, but I'll let you know GoMopar440. Did your car come with any optional SLP content? The sticker on the passenger door will likely say.

One option I know for a fact I lack a picture of is the optional R1 Competition Series tires with extra set of wheels. I know they are just tires, but my site is all about history, and it'd be interesting to have a picture of a set of nearly brand new 15 year old tires. Something that has always confused me about that option is how SLP included the tires and 4 extra wheels with the car. I've seen people put a full set of wheels and tires in their Camaro, but it's not exactly an easy fit, nor something you might want to do with a brand new car. 1 in the trunk, 2 in the backseat, 1 in the front seat.

Re: ebay find of the week: extremely rare '97 sebring silver SS hardtop

Yea, there's four extra options listed on the SLP window sticker (yea, it came with the car).

In addition to the base SS Alteration package ($3999.00):
1) Optional Performance Lube Package $79.00
2) Optional SS Front Floor Mats $99.00
3) Optional Oil cooler Package $299.00
4) Optional Sebring Silver Metallic Exterior Color $299.00

Total: $4775.00

This is copied straight from the SLP sheet. I can scan it for your records if you want.

A scan might be useful if you want to do that. My email address is brangeta (at) gmail (dot) com written in the proper format. I'll let you know if I need any pics of those items as soon as I see what others are able to get me.
