From what i've heard about the dye is that is gradually wears off (atleast the VHT stuff does) in the high contact areas. I dyed my carpet black the same way and I have to redye certain spots about every week to keep it looking perfect. I opted for the Black and Red leather

Marky82 - Just out of curiosity, what brand of carpet dye did you use? I have really been wanting to dye my carpet black for a long time. Did you dye your leather seats as well? Could you please give me any information on the brands and techniques you used? Thank you so much!

I dyed the centers of my stock seats red with the VHT dye. It does indeed wear off in the high wear areas. My back seats still look like new, while my driver seat is barely pink in the center and the passenger is pink in the center.

I say, don't do it. There have been a couple that didn't have any problems, but most everyone that has done it has had some sort of wear off.

Also - there has been a few threads about this you might want to search for that will help you.

I did the VHT dye thing also. Mine faded in the drivers seat and passenger seat. Not bad, but you could tell the difference. Back seat looked fine.
I finally bit the bullet and spent big $ and had everything done in leather. Graphite and red. See the results...........
