Door guard bumper strips...

I've tried searching all over. No info to be found I guess.

If I take these off is the door painted underneath?
And what's the easiest way to remove them? Blowdryer?

I assume the paint will probably by now be new looking if it is still there and therefor will probably look pretty bad in itself?

They are so ugly faded now They need to be removed.

Yes, the door is painted underneath.
Heat will make it easier, just leave the car in the sun for awhile. I used a plastic panel tool that looks like a tire spoon. Its not hard to get the trim off, its far more time consuming to remove the glue and dirt residue. As far as fade, if it is noticeable you could just paint the trim and put it back on.

I've also heard of guys using fishing line to get behind the strips to help separate from the body.

You can also just use a hair dryer to warm up the pieces as well- a heat gun will work as well but if you aren't careful can warp the trim pieces if you were trying to save them. If you don't have fishing line could always just grab some dental floss.
