Does anyone else have a lot of stone chips?
Does anyone else have a lot of stone chips?
I have a black 97 TA with 30500 miles and since it's black, I can notice every little spec on the front end that comes from stones and driving and for the miles, it seems like I have quite a few of them. I drive very carefully too.
Do they come from driving in the rain or on the highway or what because I never see or hear any stones hitting the car.
Am I the only one that has this problem?

You are not alone...
Black is the absolute worse to show too, but hey - it is still the best looking when it's clean!
I have found nothing to even help out a little bit with them...
I drive carefully as well, and I have come to the consensus that if you drive it, it's gonna happen. Our cars just sit to low and there's a lot of contact area for rocks to hit, so it just sucks.
Just so you know - that "Turtle Wax paint chip stick" does nothing - even if you weren't wondering.

Common problem
My yellow SS was recently damaged by a lawn mower and while in the repair shop I had them redo the front... it was only a year old paint job too.
If you drive the car you're going to have some chips on the front... no way around it unless you want to have a bra on the car all the time

I've got 150K+ miles and it shows..
Even a couple on the hood in the stripes.. : /
It's almost time for a total re-paint.
And yes. I'm going to keep it black.. (not sure about keeping the same stripes)
It's just beautiful when done right.

I do. I figure on getting it repainted as soon as I get an SS hood... then I'll just have them painted at the same time.
I found that putting 5 or 6 layers of wax on the front end makes them a lot less noticeable... still there, they just dont stand out as much.

I have a red z and have the same problem ( damn trucks on the highway) I use turtle wax color cure, makes the stone chips disappear then I rewax with a synthetic wax, when it cures is like adding a clear coat over the top. The only two synthetic waxes I know of that are any good is zaino or Liquid Glass.

I have them too
I probably have more than 100 small chips on the front of the car. I finally decided to put a car bra on the front to cover them up. The car bra doesn't look good, but it sure looks better than all the paint chips

i HAD them on my old hood so bad, that it looked like **** when clean
I need something like that clear bra posted to protect the front end and hood now that i have the flames, because that seems like a tough and expesive task to touch up in the future

I have a couple of tiny rocks chips on my 02 and they have to go. The hawk is going in the shop next week for a touch-up, having the brake calipers powdercoated too. You seem to get rock chips from driving behind big wheels on the highway or if you tail-gate someone. With fast cars like ours it's easy to get too close to someone. I'd consider buying a bra for my formula firehawk but I've only seen them for the Trans Am model. I think a bra is a must have for long trips or stay off someone's butt if you don't want rock chips.

The only way you won't get them is if you don't drive it.
