Do your tires pull?

I just upgraded from the stock salad shooters to enkei wins 17x9.5. I have Kuhmo ecsta supra 712's (275/40/17) on them and it feels as though the car "pulls". It never did this with my old tires, is it the kuhmos, the upgraded size from 245 to 275, weak stearing b.c i have a V6 or uneverly weighted rims? Do any of you have the same problem? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

It's the tires. When you go with a lower profile tire, they'll tend to "follow" grooves in the road a lot more. It's normal.

In general, wider tires tend to follow grooves in the road. This effect is known as "tramlining". Nothing you can do about it except dodge the grooves.

It has nothing to do with the lower profile.... it has to do with the treadwidth. THe wider the tire the more it pulls to where it wants to be in the road. One of the side effect of a wider tire.... Let's just say you learn to deal with it. 275/40ZR17 is factory on my car.. I'm used to it....

Is it the front tires that cause this or the rear b/c I need 2 new tires and I may go smaller up front if it will take care of this problem

I'm pretty sure it's just the front tires.

I wasn't there Sunday due to not having a d@mn rear tire!I blew-out the rear tire coming back from Texas Roadhouse up your neck of the woods Saturday late-afternoon.Tire was not repairable and of course no-one had a 275-40-17 in stock.

I limped home from Swansea Mall exit on the donut.I haven't driven it since.Don't want to F-up the posi unit.My new Kumho should be here in the morning so it will be fixed tomorrow.

We're having a meet this Saturday?????Where and when?

I'm glad this is a normal thing. Switching from 215/60R16s to 275/40R17s, the tramlining effect hit me square in the face, as I have never read or heard about this effect.

I will take the added handling and looks of bigger wheels with tramling than the skinny, ugly wheels without tramlining.

Thumbs up

I got 285's all around, it was weird at first, but now I'm used to it. Wider is better!
