Difference in SS Hoods

is there a major difference in SS hoods from the many different companies. Differences ranging from how weel they fit, or how big the scoop is.....anyone know what the "best" brand to buy is, if im looking for a factory SS style hood?

oem hoods are the best , but good luck in finding one and the dealers want 1500 bucks for a new one, thats the route i would go first, maybe try ebay and luck out on a biding war, one just sold tonight for 800 bucks, for a oem though not a bad price, as far as the aftermarkets go, there pretty close all around from what ive seen lately, just look around and decide for yrself.

The best brands to buy are:

- American Sports Car Design
- FFI

Here is a picture showing the differences of alot of them.

For pics of the FFI SS hood, see my sig. (Page 2)

I have no clue about this company, but the hood was cheaper than FFI or ASCD, and the fitment is damn near perfect. The company is called Custom Fiberglass Industry, and here's a picture.

i like the look of ascd, and ffi...has anyone bought either of these and had any problems, and is kinda hit or miss with hoods, or should they be machined the EXACT same?

yes it is a hit or miss with any type of aftermarket hood, but the ffi"s hoods for the price is the one i would buy, only thing is there line of hoods are not functional, but most people have cai"s anyways so that wouldnt matter, unless you wanted the ram air box

I have one from fiberglass fabricators but I have a 98 camaro from your name you have a 95 and from what ive seen they look pretty stock. On the new body style "98 and up" the scoop Is bigger than stock but I think it looks better bigger like that it stands out better. Ohh and the quality Is good and fit perfectly for me and It was only $400 but its not functional unless you have it modified. But they sell good stock looking ones at RKsports.com

Dosen't SLP provide OEM hoods for SS's? My son just put an SLP Performance parts hood on his car and the fit was less than perfect, had to adjust front end and fendors to get it close.
