Question Day time running lights?

Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to put day time running lights on my 1995 Z28 camaro like the 1997 and higher camaros? If it is, can you guys please post here on how I can do it? I like the bright orange lights, makes people move out of the way when I'm coming up behind them

Lightbulb

Just turn your headlight switch on to the first click (parking lamp position) and the front marker lights will come on. So will the tail-lights and dashlights, but that's not a big deal..........at least you'll have the front markers on like you want (and you don't have to do anything to the wiring ).

just behind the radio in the 97 plus camaros and firebirds is a little black box. that box is what you need. take all the wiring harnesses and wires too. the 97+ camaros have a third wire running to the headlamps and markers that are approximately 1/2 the wattage of normal lights. the wire is green as opposed to the red and black high wattage lines. then install the box in yours with the new wires and there you go. a lot of work for drl's if you ask me. they burn out the headlights extremely fast. I was going through lights every 2 months until i killed the drl.

Really? Damn...I would hate to be burning out light bulbs every so often. Is there a special light bulb thats available at...say Kragen for example that won't burn out so fast? Because when I think of it, I think the light bulbs on 97 and higher are way different than the 95...but I'm not sure.

Ok, i came across this site, and I read the instructions on how to do it. It sounds very similar to teh description you gave me. Thanks! Also, if I don;t like it, then I can always disable it anytime i want. Go here and click on Day Time Running Lights

Really? I've had my '97 for over 3 years now and only replaced 1 headlight. And the only time I've replaced the bulbs for the DRLs was when I installed my clear corners.

if you want to do it the easy way, do this....

select another lamp (socket and bulb) and wire it into your low element wires for the turnsignal. This way when you turn on you parking lights 2 element will light up....

this is different then just turning on your parking light, with parking lights ..1 element comes on not 2!!

i used a #a94 bulb, but you could use bigger.... i then cut a hold in my turn signal housing and stuck it in there..

so i have 2 lamps running off the turnsignal wires..... of course if you screw this up then you need new turnsignal lens!!!!

hope this helps anyone's idea's

All I did in mine, is take a 2" wire, put a male spade connector on one or both ends, remove the parking lights fuse, plug one end of the wire in it's place, on the lights side, and plug the other end into the windshield wipers fuse. That way, I can leave the lights dial to parking lights, and the fog light switch on, and they will only work when the ignition is turned on. That way I can drive around with my parking lights and fog lights on at all times if I want. If I want to, I can turn the dial off, and have no running lights. Since I did it, about 7 months ago, I haven't had to replace any bulbs, and have had no problems with the fuses or such. The only problem, if you leave your headlights turned on, and exit the car, it won't beep at you, and you may forget to turn them off. I've done it a few times, but haven't needed a jump or anything. I love it like they are right now.
