Dashboard crack repair

Simple question, really. I have a couple of rather unsightly cracks starting to form in my dashboard (specifically right above the air bag hatch) from age and wear, and I'd like to know if there is a simple solution to repairing them without ripping out the whole thing. Perhaps a compound or sealer of some kind?

All suggestions and recommendations welcome. Thanks everyone!

I don't think so, It would probably look worse with glue smeared on top of the crack. If you want to repair it right, you have to remove it taking care not to split it completely apart in the process. If not, well you have to replace it with a new one.

nope...gotta replace it. Right about 150 bucks. Or, you could pull it out and wrap it in something (suede, leather, vinyl)

Anyone got a pic of one wrapped in vinyl? What did you do about the air grille in the center?

Re: Dashboard Crack Repair... FOR REAL!

I know this is an older thread, but I did not want to step on anyone's toes who may have done this repair already in the manner I am suggesting in an article I just penned over at www.60degreev6.com in my alter ego there as "60dgrzbelow0".

If you're sincerely tired of looking at all the guts under your fractured, rattling dashboard, I can suggest to anyone interested in finally solving a problem that will invariably plague any owners/collectors of all the redoubtable lines of The Camaro (and Firebird) vehicles. Try scanning eBay on a regular basis and you should be able to find an inexpensive replacement dash cover that won't break the bank... (and won't crack, break or fade) that installs and look exactly like the one I just put my 1993 Z-28.

Please take a look at my "How-To" this article on this fairly straightforward repair and view link to my photobucket for all the photos of tools, materials and the right techniques to do the job right:
