Re: Dash Pad options...

I gave up. I bought a carpted dash mat/cover. I tried one from Year One but didn't like it (didn't cover the air bag) and on top of that it didn't fit! I then got one from Classic Industries and it is pretty nice and fits well. $40 I believe. If you want a black one, the part number is 02100B

Re: Dash Pad options...

You can buy vinyl and fit it to the dashpad yourself- no need to buy a "kit"- won't be that expensive, either. Only problem will be fitting around the defroster vents. Might take a little custom work to get it to look good there. You can get it in pretty much any color you want.

Re: Dash Pad options...

That might not be a bad idea.....my dash pad has been broken for awhile, but a little super glue and some black vinyl might just be the answer.....

Re: Dash Pad options...

Is it not possible or a good idea to just wrap it with ebony leather?

Re: Dash Pad options...

If you were to recover the dash with some black vinyl, what would you use to put it on? I was thinking some double sided tape, but I am not sure how it would hold once it got really hot inside the car.

And for anybody who is thinking about doing this, you will need more than a yard and a half of material.....thats how much I bought and it just doesn't cover the whole thing, theres about an inch on each corner.

Re: Dash Pad options...

It would be possible to put leather/suede on it as well. I imagine it would be a little bit more difficult to do since it won't stretch as easily as vinyl, but since it's a fairly flat piece should come out fairly good. Suede would be really nice though, it wouldn't reflect any sunlight into your eyes.

BTW I got all my ideas from http://www.leatherseats.com/. They sell most of their stuff by the foot/yard for custom projects. Someday I'd love to wrap my interior in leather. That graphite/black plastic looks like junk IMO.
