I like the desing on the red car. It looks good but how would anything like that be feasable without huge costs?

I saw a slot car once with those same wheels. WHO makes those?! I LOVE THEM!

As far as not havine depth cut into the gills, some of the 90's vettes had the same style cut gills that were just straight cuts. It didn't look bad at all. Basically, if I cut straight gills into my car, and put a Callaway C8 right next to it, then yeah...the C8 gills are gonna look better, but hey...what are the chances of that?! ( I actually DO have a pic of my car next to a Callaway C8, That's why that comment is funny!)

I'm going out to the custom shops tomorrow to inquire about some gill cutting. If it works out, I'll definitely post some pics on here.

Test Panel

I'm doing a test panel some time during the next week. I'll take pictures and put them somewhere so everyone can see the "beta" version.

Exclamation Test Panel Done

I completed the first of 2 test panels from my old LT1 fenders last night. Even after spending 5 hours doing the measurements and drawing on the panel, it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to. I was using a marker to outline where I wanted the gills, and appearantly the marker was too thick and I measured the gills too wide to begin with. Also, I think the dremel was set with too course of a sandpaper and @ too high of a speed. After I got it cut and tested the panel out on the car, they just looked like 4 gaping holes. WAAAY too big! I took the other old panel and adjusted the gills size some. Used a wet erase THIN marker, and cut it. This time, I took GREAT care in cutting a little bit at a time. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! It looks freakin sweet. I've made them a little narrower than the Callaway gills...and a little less in length. They're a little more subdued. I'm going to the body shop where the car is at tomorrow to test fit the panel. If all looks as I hope, I'll replicate the panel on the new LS1 fenders. I'll snap a shot of the test panel too, if anyone is interested.

It's all coming together. This, along with the LS1 front end conversion...I can't wait till it's all done.

Arrow pics

I just added pics in the sig. You may have to cut and paste the link though. It's 9 PM Eastern , so they should be up by 9:30.
Remember...this is just a test panel...not the finished product.

That would look interesting with a grill behind it and with some ground effects... it would be nice to see some pictures from a distance..

Looks ok as of now. I think I need a full car view to be able to tell. What do you see behind them? Anything? maybe put some mesh in there or soemthing.

I'll be putting some heavy screen mesh behind the panels later. The panel's have to be painted first. That particular panel on the car in the pics is my old LT1 fender that I cut just to test out the idea. The car is in the middle of the LS1 front end swap, that's why it's all still in pieces. I hacked up the old fender as a test panel. Now that I see it looks good, I'm going to do the new LS1 fenders tonight. Once those are done, they gotta go to paint with the new SS hood and LS1 front bumper cover. Then, it's BLEND time baby! But yeah...I do agree...they need some screen back there. For the photo, it was just a piece of black cardboard so I could get an idea of what it looked like without having see-through holes.

As far as how I did it...measure, measure, measure. I don't even want to explain how I did all the measurements...but I'll tell you that the slope was the easiest part. (which isn't saying much) The spacing and the gills are all exactly the same size within 1-2 millimeters. Once I got everything traced out with a water marker, I free handed it with a dremel. That's about it. It's work, but it's coming together. Thanks for the good responses.
