Custom Body Kit Designs

I am in the beginning stages of making a custom body kit for my 94 Camaro. I can't come up with an idea good enough for my car. I have a few sketches though. it will consist of full front bumper full rear bumper side skirts and side scoops on the doors. If any of you out there have artistic ability and want to design a great kit that I could produce I will give you the kit you designed at cost in exchange for you allowing me to use your design. The design can be as elaborate or as simple as you want as long as I can get the just of it. Your kit doesn't have to have side scoops and all that but I would like for it to be a little more original than say a wings west kit. If you have any questions I would prefer if you would email me at vokabulis@cs.com rather posting a message.

Thank you,
Mike

I think a custom body kit like that with molded fender flares kinda like this would look killer.

Look at a couple of these pics for ideas about the rear. I think many people will agree with me that we need a flat rear like this.

If someone could actually make a reasonably priced kit that looks like the rear of a C5 I think they could make a fortune. I know I would have one for all three of my cars.

I like the first pic, but my only quarrel with it is that the bottom of that C5 rear is way higher than the rest of the car. You would also have to get a custom exhaust to make up for lost space. Still like the concept though.

All right guys I finally finished a design. This one may be a little elaborate for some people's taste but I think it would turn a lot of heads and even break a few necks. I'm not trying to sell the kits on the board without being a paying advertiser (and plus I haven't even taken exact measurement to see if it would fix exactly) but do you think this would sell and if so how much do you think it would go for. I know it would be pretty intensive to put it on, to mold all of the pieces on cleanly but I think the kit could look good without the side scoop which would make it as simple as any other kit to put on. Let me know what you think.

WOW! That is an aerodynamic nightmare!!! LOL!!

But looks pretty d@mn good, I like it, the bottom half of the car is going to be pretty wide. though. The only quetion I have is, is there going to be any liability issues with removeing the rear bumper of the car?

I'll be anxious to see this made, it''ll be quite a undertaking for an individual.

I'm assuming you'll update us with lots of pics?

Thanks for the compliments… I don’t think the aerodynamics would be that bad. I might have the scoops open so air won’t be trapped in them. I’ll have to see. As for the liability issues with removing the rear bumper, I don’t see why it would be any different than any other full rear bumper kit. Do companies that sell those have liability issues?... Please keep the questions and comments coming. I am defiantly making this for my car but I may start producing a few to sell. Would there be a market for it, or is it too extreme for the average Camaro driver.

Nope, that wouldn't sell.... But it looks great.

It is more of a Ferrari Style conversion, than a custom kit, really, and the body and door panels can just be modified, instead of replaced, that is why the kit wouldnt sell.

However, the rear fascia is already being designed and will sell fairly well.

The kit would consist of front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and side scoops (no fenders or side door panels). The only things that would be replaced would be the bumpers and I don’t see how you could modify them to look like anything special. After thinking about it I don’t think it would be that much work to put on like I said before. The side scoops will fit into the crevice where the side molding is and go down to meet the side skirt that has the second scoop. It could be installed and look nice as is or to make it look smoother you could mold the kit to the car. (As with all kits) Also a main point to think about is that the kit looks like it could go for $800-$1,000 but I would only start the price at around $500-$600 depending on how much it cost to make it. With that in mind what do think about it now?

If you could sell it for that price (essentially around the same as "standard" ground effects) I think you'll do well. The same old body kits have been around for years with not much new being available in recent years (Vizage maybe?) so not only will people buy it because I think most will like it but also because it is different and not the standard old Wings West ground effects... like mine
