Current Crop of Cop Cars
Current Crop of Cop Cars
So what's the current crop of cop cars. Of course the Crown Vic's silhouette is indelibly written in my head whenever I look in the mirrors. I can pick out a Crown Vic from 500 yds away, night or day, rain or fog. Those headligts and running lights are too distinctive. The roof line, all of it is written like a deer trail in my brain.
Now I see Chargers, and other manners of SUVs.
Since not all Crown Vics are cop cars, and not all cop cars of Crown Vics, we poor sheep are trying to stay one step ahead of the sheep dogs and keep them from biting our hind legs.

Yeah, the marked ones here are split between the Clown Vics and Tahoes- unmarked could be almost anything, lots of Dodges, used to used Luminas and Taruses (Tauri?) Oh yeah, the (W)Impala- civilians can now get the V8 in one, but not in the police-spec model-
Crown Vic
Impala
Tahoe
Durango
Intrepid
Expedition
Charger
Camaro
Those are the most common around here, but just about anything can be a police car nowadays. Many jurisdictions are using cars that don't have any outboard lights with markings on the side that blend in and really are only visible when the lights hit them for traffic duty. I've seen a few off color cars (one black and the other red) here that have the matching reflective 3M striping used for this... very ominous!

There was one that pulled us over the other day that was a Crown Victoria but had a different front end on it, much bigger than the usual Crown Vic. It looked like it was a Dodge from the rear view. He was "special forces" though, so idk what it could have been.
They use everything around here, Crown Vic's, Dodges of all types (buddy got a ticket from a Stratus), the city cops have some wild variation from a Ford Taurus in my town to Chargers in the next town. Some Chargers are 6's some are 8's.
