Cracked Bumper

I recently ordered a new front bumper for my camaro and it came to me cracked. I am going through the process of dealing with the shipping company, but was thinking about fixing it myself...since I already took it to a body shop. It isn't a huge damage, about a 3 inch crack on the under side of the bumper. Anyways, if I was to attempt to fix this myself, which would be the best way and compound to use on this? An epoxy? I've also heard of the process of plastic welding...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Mark

Re: Cracked Bumper

I tryed plastic welding on the fenders of my Banchee. Didn't work too well because they cracked in the same spot again. I would try epoxy, or if you know someone at a body shop, ask them what they use to fix stuff like that.

Re: Cracked Bumper

I repair this stuff all the time & I use Plastic weld from Autozone its a 2 part sysem & works great. The trick is to use a fiberglass mesh not the fabric kind the stuff you can break apart after you put the plastic weld on use a brush & kind of dab the fiberglass into the plastic weld into it. Also prepare the surface well or it wont work . use a 80 grit sand paper in the inside if the surface rough it up well . then clean wth a break clean this shoud work its worked well for me , then the outside just ues a light bondo to fil the crack sand smoth & primer anymore question please feel free to email me.
