cleaning up the engine bay

I got my Z from a police auction and needless to say the paint job was less than perfect (performed by an inmate). Anyway, there is overspray everywhere in the engine bay and I wanted to repaint a couple things ie the airbox lid bottom and the piece of metal that connects the front fascia to the airbox bottom (fits over the windshield wiper fluid). Any advice on what type of paint, best way to do it, anything I should know, etc.?

when i was finishing off my t top conversion i had a good amount of clear coat left over so i sprayed some on my intake elbow and it made it shine pretty good. Im not sure if this was safe or not but its been awhile and i've had no problems. I know thats not what you asked but i thought you might like to know.
