Check out my "new" front suspension!!!

Busted my *** for the last week re-doing my suspension.

New parts are a BMR Tubular K-Member, Ball Joints/Tie-Rod Ends, and Prothane bushings. Still using the stock Upper/Lower Control Arms, Struts/Springs, Swaybar, Spindles, Steering Rack.

Man,it sure is a shame you have to put that back under the car where no one will be able to see it.

Nice job

Ha, the first time I looked at it, I didn't notice that you could scroll down, and the window wasn't maximized....so all I saw was one picture. I kept looking at it thinking, wtf, it looks stock to me! Then I realised I could scroll down and I saw the pretty new stuff. Me=airhead sometimes.

Are you going to run poly motor mounts? I put some of those in my car. Dunno if it helped much, but it's piece of mind for me, I guess...

Should have changed to the 98+ front brakes! Other then that it looks awesome! How much did the K member cost and wehre did you get it? Is there going to be a group purchase on this item any time soon. I cant find it for less then $400.00

Dave, that looks awesome!

It looks like some of that stuff is powdercoated, but I am guessing just gloss black paint and a lot of cleaning?

But that looks amazing man - good work. Like ZRAPTOR said - too bad it's gotta go back underneath the car, where people can't even see it and get dirty.

Lightbulb

It looks like he is using POR 15 on the rusted parts. It turns a glossy shiny black and all you have to do to prep it is wash the metal and make sure there is no loose rust. it actually bonds better to a thin layer of rust. I am going to do the same thing to my brakes and suspension before they go in this spring. POR15

Hey thanks for all the compliments.

Actually what I did for most of the pieces was glass bead them down to bare metal, then install the bushings, wipe them all over a couple times with some degreaser stuff (NOT engine degreaser, but kinda like lacquer thinner or whatever, it's at Auto Zone). Then I just gave them 3-4 coats of Engine Enamel.

The calipers I did with VHT caliper paint.

Had I been smarter I would have better prepped my swaybar, but it should still be OK.

I got it from LS1speed for $373 I think it was. Came out to right around $400 with shipping. Gotta watch the sponsors sales forum Got it 15% off.

I want to run a solid upper motor mount on the drivers side, but I'm having trouble locating the part # or source for it. If anyone knows that I would be grateful.

Worse comes to worse I'll just run a poly in there.

I didn't change the brakes, because these only have 10K miles on them, and I'm already $10,000 into this damn rebuild No unnecessary expenditures.

Big bumma no one will see it, but I just couldn't let it go back on like it was, guess I'm just reall detail oriented or something...

Couple more pics to show you the "along the way" steps:

So you used glass beads to clean the parts?

Did you have to use a sandblasting cabinet?

I have a crappy bottom suck feed thing that runs off the compresser and hardly works. I think I need a better moisture catcher in line with it. maybe I can use it with glass beads because they dont get wet and stick together like sand. Where doy ou buy glass beads to blast things with?

I have to do the same thing you did bro... to even more parts
