Cheapest and easiest way to do minor rust repair at home.
I have some minor rust on my z28 id like to catch and stop this summer, and painted. I would like to do it myself though. I wanted to know what you guys thought of my plan, and would like suggestions added in for the pros. I need to know what is the best thing to use to strip any remaining paint from the area, what grit sandpaper to sand, and what grit to smooth out, and if i need a filler, what do you guys recommend? Thanks!

Please take pictures to see how deep the rust is.
It may be very possible to polish the rust off, I think Mothers sell some stuff that works very well.
Your going to have to remove the chrome thou, its hard to paint, and the paint will just chip off.

I will try and get some pics up. I have no chrome on the car though. The rust has taken what appears to be a few layers worth of metal off, but its a small area. Nothing i figure body filler wouldnt take care of. Thanks, ill try and get some pics.
