Carputer Install

I just finished up my install. Still a few minor things I have to do yet, but for the most part its done. My specs are a MII 10000 Via Epia, M2 ATX, 512 RAM, and a Xenarc 700TS. Im pretty happy with the way everything came out, let me know what you guys think.

Re: Carputer Install

Damn you 98+ camaro guys!! Haha, damn man that looks SWEET! Makes me wish I had the 98+ interior even more, as I myself am redoing my carputer's bezel for the 93-96 interior... so hard to get it to look good. Looks awesome, though! Good job!

Re: Carputer Install

how much did the project cost you? I thought about doing one, and I had my lilliput ordered from some guy in puerto rico (over mp3car.com) and he scammed me out of $200, so two months later when I got that back, I had lost interest.

I've got the main components, all I'm missing are the touchscreen LCD, and the DCDC power supply, which are the two most costly elements in the project. If i ever come into some more money, I'll probably jump on the first touchscreen LCD deal I find.

Moving right along, a great dash molding job, it looks so natural in our cars. Keep up the good work.

Re: Carputer Install

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments! To answer some of the questions,

pcgamer4life- Heres a breakdown of around what I spent:
$160 VIA EPIA MII 10000
$80 Mini ITX case
$190 Xenarc 700TS
$90 M2-ATX Power Supply
$150 100GB Toshiba Laptop Hard Drive
and a lot of odds and ends from radio shack. (fuses, wires, connectors, etc.)
All in all I think it was a cheap alternative to a DVD player or something like that in my car. Most of the ones Ive seen are pretty pricy and dont even do that much.

bond2- My front end software is Road Runner, its pretty decent. I dont like it a lot, but as far as I can tell its the best choice considering the alternative front ends.
For right now I dont have a GPS system, I am looking at some antennas but I havent decided on one yet. Im in no hurry, I have my little Magellean Handheld GPS. You can probably see it in the picture of my dash in the bottom cubby hole lol. For the time being the only things I use my front end for is playing videos and listening to mp3s. It has the capability to support Satt Radio/TV/Phone/GPS/DVD/Internet and some other stuff but I dont need all of that at the moment. For more detailed information on car PCs definitely check out mp3car.com, lot of inspiring projects on there.
