Car Wraps

Anybody have direct experience with a Car Wrap on their Camaro? Considering this an alternative to a new paint job.

It's basically a full body sticker. Alot of companies use them for advertizing... I just wonder how well it would hold up to prolonged use.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't those require a perfectly smooth exterior paint job in order to stick?

I would imagine as long as the paint is completely clean then it would stick. You can just heat up the vinyl to make it stretch into any dents or dings you might have. Although, if the body does have to be flawless, then there's no sense in covering up perfect bodywork with a matte finish vinyl. I don't care how shiny the vinyl is supposed to be, it will never rival the shine of a well polished clear coat paint job.
