Smile car shopping

I am shopping for a 2000 or a 2001 camaro. I was wondering what if any were the differences between the 1999 through 2002 years. I am currently not looking at the z28 models.

I was also wondering if any of you have had any problems with your T-tops. I have heard people complain that they rattle and leak.

Last thing. Why is it that every camaro that I have looked at the ashtray is broken? Is it a bad design or what?

I really wasn't sure where to put this post so sorry if it is in the wrong place. Thanks to everyone in advanced.

If you aren't looking at Z28's, then you aren't necassarily shopping for performance. I am going to respect that and just give my suggestions aside from that aspect.

If it were me personally, I would get a 1997 Camaro...if you want even more descriptive, I would look for a Black one with t-tops.
The reason I pick the 1997 is because it has the new style interior, which is nicer, it has the same V6 as the 1998+, and it has the more aggresive front end. If you just personally like the '98+ front end more though, then go that route with any of the years...just find what you can for a good deal.

Most people are going to criticize you for not looking for a Z, but don't worry about it...my first F-Body wasn't a Z either...

That's my $.02, that's what you asked for...

I have a '97 V6, check out my sig. I'm 20 and can't afford the insurance of a Z so i'm in the same boat as you. Before my 97 I had a 95 with t tops. I would definately recommend getting t tops if you are getting a V6, you'll lack the performace but the ttops make it fun for cruising. Or if you have the money go for the convertible, they are twice the fun Check out my sig though b/c I have pics of both my 97 and 95 good luck with your new F-Body!

Well, for 96 and 97 I think the V6's had an RS package that gave you ground effects and you can tell an RS because it will have RS badging on the front fenders. That is what I would get if I was to get a V6 model because they look realy realy good!

I'm not sure but I think you can also get the 98+ models with ground effects too. Other than that there aren't many differences between V6 models except for leather.
