This car is a disgrace...

I just saw this on ebay. They are advertising it as one of the pace cars plus a ZR1. Not only is it not one of the pace cars, but it most certainly isn't a ZR1.

If any of you have any doubt that it "could" be one of the pace cars, forget about it. No special interior, no white salad shooters, and come on... the only thing it has going for it, is the fact that it is a '93.

The only thing I can say is that it is interesting that they have all of the decals and especially the nose emblem. Those aren't things the aftermarket ever made as far as I know, and that means they probably did these appearance mods sometime in the '90s.

It's a 93 and it has the uber rare stickers that are no longer available. BUT, it's definitely not the pace car. I'd report it as a scam to ebay.

I sent them a message explaining that their car is a rip off and definitely not a pace car. If it's still there in a day or two, I'll report it. I hate people that try to pull this crap.

On another note, as meissenation pointed out, these stickers are no longer available...so the next person with a legitimate pace car that needs a set of these stickers for whatever reason will have one less set available because somebody figured they wanted to make a crappy repro of a pace car. What a waste.

At first I gave the guy some benefit of the doubt and thought maybe he was just trying to make his car something that it is not. Afterall, I see plenty of base model Hondas on the road with Type R and Vtec badges plastered all over them. Then I read the auction and it says, "own a piece of history", "this is one of the 600 pace cars made in 1993..." I hate scammers.

Hood is mis aligned, door is fisheyed or scratched to h3ll, can't tell..

Poor car. Not a big fan of the colors on the stripes. If it were a REAL pace car, it'd be a different story.

I just got a response from the ebay seller:
Thank you for your concern. I read your email this morning and went to the Chevy dealership. We run the VIN and came out as a PACE car. They even print out documents that I will add them to the listing later on today.

Thank you
Matt
I'm going to run a free carfax and see if it will tell me that much info... if it isn't true, I'm going to report him to ebay.

Carfax says nothing about it being a pace car, but I don't know if it normally would or not.

I'm not calling a GM dealership over this... I've done as much as I'm willing to do... it's a fake no matter what the guy says. Nobody who paid the extra money to have that black and white pace car paint job and those crazy cloth seats would throw it all away by making it look like a regular Z28 with pace car graphics. It's just a regular Z28 with the graphics...

WTF? I thought the indy pace cars had a black and white 2 tone?

Also they never made a ZR1 camaro pace car. I don't even think they made a ZR1 camaro in 93 right?

Yeah, exactly, that's the problem. The guy is saying it IS one of the pace cars, but it obviously isn't.

(p.s. there was never a ZR1 4th gen Camaro for any year, that badge is just from a Corvette)

That's just a line of crap he's trying to feed out to the less knowledgable people out there. Anybody that didn't know anything about these cars might just fall for that because they don't know any better.

There's plenty of specialty camaros out there that you can fake, but I'd say the 93 pace car would be one of the hardest to do. The graphic interior would be almost impossible to find the material for.
If I were going to fake any of the Camaros, the 30th anniv. Z's would be the easiest. The 35'th SS would be pretty easy to do as well, it's just gray inserts in a black leather seat with embroidered headrests. The stripes for each of those wouldn't be hard to pull off either, I can't count how many 35th anniv. stripes I've seen on non anniversary cars.

I think the biggest mistake people make on this is that some models, 96-97, received the LT4 engine! And since that was in the ZR1, that is where the mis-conception comes in. But I could be wrong.

And you are...the LT4 was in the grand sports and the LT5 was in the ZR-1. There's a biiiiig difference between the two.
