I think that will work. That place right in front of the shifter, what is that originally? And the flap behind the shifter is the ashtray, correct?

 

02 TA center console

On the 02, below the Climate Controls, is the lighter/ASR
panel (ASP plate easily pops out). In front of shifter (towards nose of car) is the ash tray

 

So what is this in front of the cupholder?

or in my case a switch panel, that's covered by the ashtray cover

 

So the ashtray was a one-year switch?

Here are some pics of my interior, it's a 94 TransAm. It's the gear shifter, then behind that is the ashtray, then the cupholder, then the glove box.
