Camaro, Trans Am birth marks

Camaro, Trans Am birth marks
I've read before on here that alot of people get this dents (almost like door dings) on the rear quarter panel of there cars. Some refer to these as "Birth Marks".
I say if this is happening to alot of these cars can't we contact GM and get them to pay for repairs?
I thought that mine was a door ding but when I read the thread about others having the same marks, I sarted thinking. I never park my car near other cars so how did I get this. Now it looks like I have another on the passenger side.
What do you guys think, if anyone subs to another message board copy and post this there.
Like I say if we can prove to GM that this is there fault, who knows. It never hurts to try!

My 93 Z has two on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. My fiance's Firebird has one on each as well. I've taken it to the local dealership to ask about them and they said they wouldn't fix it. Seems like to me but they refused and said "That's just how they are made" I really don't care though, it isn't really noticable unless you smack your head up against the car and stare at it.

I have heard that when you remove/reinstall the spare & jack, you must be VERY careful, because even a small bump from the inside can dent your rear quarter panel. Also on the same idea, don't overtighten the wing nut for the tire, because all you are doing is pulling the quarter panel in.
these two things may be the cause of some people's passenger side dents.

They are the weld points of the sheet metal, they are all over if you look hard enough. By the A pillar, on the quarters in the back to the side of the hatch. No way GM will fill those and repaint. Just have the car blocked smooth if you get a repaint.

Alot of you that don't think you have them.... have them. I point them out on people's camaro's all the time. They are very VERY subtle. I can only see mine in certain lighting, but still very annoying.
I am interested in this "Dent Dr." ... do you have any more info on it ?
I also think the starter of this post has a good point. This is a faulty design that should have been addressed years ago. There is no chance now since many of us are second owners etc... but had people addressed this in like 1996, it would probably be fixed by now.
Oh well.

the only ding that was on my car when i bought it was almost on top of the drivers side rear 1/4 panel.......almost near the spoiler
and its about as big as a dime, in diameter
is this where all the dings are? or they on the actualy sides of the car?
