Arrow buying hoods

Hey guys, im looking for a new hood (SS or cowl). Could someone help direct me to a quality one that's not thousands of dollars?

Also, what's the difference between a bolt on and pin on?

Thanks

Re: buying hoods

I just bought an LT1 SS style hood from Rob's Restoration in Warminster, PA. There hood department is http://www.fiberpartsconcepts.com/. The hood is excellent and the fitment is great. Price was 475 and I picked mine up since I'm only 10 mins away. The hood is designed to work with the SLP airbox as well. I'm very pleased with their craftsmanship.

Re: buying hoods

"bolt on" bolts to your stock hinges, uses your stock hood latch. "pin on" sits on the front end loose, not connected to the hinges or front latch, and requires "hood pins" or dzus fasteners to hold the hood on the car.

Pin on is generally lighter, and intended for track use.

Re: buying hoods

I've got a Glasstek, great quality and it's a pin on hood. I ordered it through Tamraz and got a lower hood price and shipping was less. Buddy has a Glasstek bolt on SS hood and it's good quality too. I'll let you know how my friend's VFN looks when it shows up in a month. I'd trust either of those shops.
