buff question
buff question
Im starting to play around with some extra parts I have and trying to polish them so they look like chome. Like the ac condenser and some lines. I use a drill with a 4inch cotton buff wheel. I learned that if you sand the metal flat with 320 sand paper and then some 400 it helps alot. I want to polish some parts in my engine. But it doesnt seem like I am useing the right polish or buffs mine are to soft to get the full shine out. What have any of you found works best for this. I have been on eastwood.com but dont know what buffs I should use.
make sure you have the correct compound to do it. I always buy bars from the truck stops, brown for heavy polish, green for final polish. On the lines and stuff you can use stuff in a can like aluminum wheel polish. Eastwood is an excellent source for most buffing supplies.
Most people around here are excellent helmet buffers and that is all.
