i want the largest possible cowl hood for my z...the bigger the better....or just any other sweetlooking hood.... im not too fond of the "ss" hoods... anyone know where I can find a nice reasonably priced cowl hood?

I don't if they have any cowls 4 inches but American Sports Car Design is a good place to get a hood. I've bought two from them (one for my 95 Camaro and 86 Iroc) and not had any problems with them or the hoods.

Why stop at 4"

 

GOOD FREAKING LORD........maybe so i can see out the front window...lol that is nuts...

so i take it NO ONE has a cowl hood on their car on this forum? lol

 

I have a 4" cowl on my mustang (pics in sig). I had no choice because the blower sat up so high. It's real easy to run over a midget if he comes at you from the right side. Anything over 4" I thought was made to order.

 

wow....nice stang! I've never heard of anything over 4" special order....but then again that would explain why im having so much trouble finding the big cowl hood I want...:rolleyes

 

A couple of years ago I was in the same seat. I needed a 5inch cowl hood but nobody could seem to help me. Then someone gave me a link to one place that did them on order. Cant remember the name but it was a pain and a very long wait. I ended buying a custom made Kmember and re worked everything above the blower to get it under a more comon 4" cowl. Talk about timing, I just logged in to post pictures of my new hood and found this thread.

Click the link.....this is my 94 Z28 with a 4" cowl induction fiberglass hood from Glasstek. Cost $425. Quality is top notch. The guys at the body shop that fitted and painted the hood were blown away, best aftermarket performance hood they've seen, and they've seen plenty.

It sure turns heads on the street.
