Question Best high wattage bulbs?

Well I went ahead and upgraded to the FF75's, and want to know what everyone is using for high wattage bulbs. I had some Showoff Krypton Purple bulbs in my stock housings, and wasn't impressed at all with them. I think pu12e has ran Nokya's in his FF housings, and would like to know anyone's opinion on those I would also like to know what anyone has experienced with any of the following brands: Cuzo, Raybrig, Polarg, Soei, Razo, PIAA, Nokya, H.I.R. (Racer Design), Vestec, or Heliolite's...or any other brands that you might have used. It doesn't matter if it was an H7, or if it was used it the Hella Housing necessarily. I don't care if you used them in another vehicle, I just want some input. I am looking for 100W preferably, but if you have had notable output with lower wattage (80, 85) let me know. I am not looking for Sylvania Silverstars...

Also, if you have any notable retailers for these, let me know. I have a few, but will probably find some more. I found the cheapest I could for the Showoff's, but haven't looked for any other brands really yet. I will be putting most of this info on my website that I talk about in another post currently on the board so that everyone will have these notes when searching for such items. Thanks to you all.

On the showoff bulb that you are using is the actual rating 100w ?

If it says something like 80w>100w they are just saying it is 80w equal to 100w output... which is basically BS. It has to be ACTUAL an actual 100w bulb.

Also what kind of voltage are you getting at the bulb did you test that ?

Are you going thru a upgraded harness/relay or not yet ?

I have used Nokya, FX, and Krypton showoffs. All true 100w. I think Nokya are the best for the money, but I haven't tried the Nokya H7's yet, I'm running FX bulbs right now.

Im acutally very impressed by my 100w showoff's. Before the switch, I used some Nokya arctic purple, and liked those too, but I like the showoffs better. If you are really that disappointed with the Showoffs, then Id go with the Nokyas.

The Showoff's are supposedly a "true" 100w bulb. I know what you are talking about with the ratings though ("Our 80w bulbs have the output of a 100w bulb"). From what I understand the Showoff's are true 100w though.

I am running my stock harness with a 30 amp relay with power drawing off the battery. I checked all of this out and the stock harness will handle a 130w bulb with a 20% safety factor. But with the 30 amp relay, I will get maximum power that the bulbs need to run at full wattage/voltage with no problem (so says a couple of electricians, which I am not...)

I may give the Showoff's another try...I can get them for $16.95 a pair, so it's not that big of a loss if I don't like them. I tried keeping in consideration that I was using them in the stock housings, but they just didn't seem to be very bright, period. I used the Purple's instead of the white/blue tinted ones...but it may just be the housings that screwed them up so badly. I actually even used 9005's in the low beams.

This is exactly the stuff I am looking for though, so keep it coming.

Im willing to bet the housing played a role in how well the lights worked. If I had my car I would go outside tonight to compare, but its gettin painted so i cant. You are doin the FF75 conversion right? If you have the housings now why dont you compare them tonight before you rule out the showoffs? Just a thought...

I have already done the FF75 conversion...the old housings are out and the Hella's are in!!!WOOHOO! But I don't know how I can see what the old bulbs would do in those housings, they are 9005's...I could get someone to hold them in there I guess while I checked it out, but don't know how good that would work. Is that what you were suggesting or am I just thinking off track?

I think maybe what he is suggesting is:

On the left side, turn the 9005's with the stock housings on, and on the right side have your FF75's with H7 100W showoffs on.

Then compare and aim etc.

Oh, I see...
Well, since I have to order whichever bulbs I decide to use (no ricer stores around me...) I was wanting to get everyone's input before doing so. I haven't got the H7's yet, so I can't really compare them. I suppose I could always just find a place that has all brands for good prices, and make sure they have a good return policy, and test them all and send them back...

Well what I can tell you, is that Krypton bulbs should last longer and stay cooler VS. just Xenon gas , but with ANY tinted bulb, you are losing illumination.

So ideally if you didn't care about appearances and just wanted the most light, then you don't want any of those brands, you would want to go with a Crystal Clear 100W H7.

Just stay the meef away from Eurolite. I got their highs and lows for stock housings and BOTH my lows went out the same week. The illumination was nice, but their lifespan sucked. Both highs still work tho...

Dalton, are you doing a write-up on the FF75 conversion?
I may be getting a new Z (another 97-black) and would like to do the conversion if there's a decent install guide available.
Thanks,
J

Jay, not too sure if I will be doing a write up yet or not...silver97z is also doing the FF75 conversion and may get me to help him with the write up, etc. In another post I have going about the 4th Gen lighting website, Geoff Chadwick said something about doing one, so we'll just see.

Eurolite's are pretty crappy. I had them before I got the Showoffs in my stock housings...the light output was good, but they burnt out quick...I only paid like $12 for them though, so no biggie.

Paul - checking out some of the Narva, Osram, and Hella's - Hella only offers the 55w H7 like what came in the FF75's to begin with (what I am running), and they aren't that bad actually, I just want better (this is like a never-ending thing - for now!)

But Osram supposedly just come out with some new H7's that put's out 80% more than stock H7 halogens...for comparison the Silverstars put out 50% more. I am going to check into those. Narva has some good stuff too, just gotta do some more comparing.

Hella does have a 100W H7 bulb, I will try and find the link for you.
