Backspacing on 18X9.5 Rims?

What is the proper backspacing on 18X9.5 inch rims for the Z28? I have heard 50mm and 56mm.

What size tires are generally put on this size rim?

I have decided on 18's for my Z simply because after wading thru hundreds of pics of 17 and 18 and 19" rim Z pictures, the 18's seem to be the best "fit".
I like the 9.5's all around because they fit the car. The 11" wide rims are just too wide when viewed from the back. The F-bodies are not wide enough to use a 11" rim in the rear, IMHO.

Ebay has some killer deals on Camaro and aftermarket rims right now, so thats why I'm trying to get the proper info.

Thanks in advance.

This page might help you on the offset issue. But really both 50mm and 56 mm will work just fine. 6 mm= 1/4 inch so there is really very little difference.

As for tire size, you probably wanna stick with either a 275/35/18 or 285/35/18. The 275 is closer to the Overall diameter of the stock tires but the 285 won't throw anything off bad enough to cause any problems.

Casper-
Thanks for the reply. What concerns me is that 1/4" can determine if the tire is flush with the fender lip (which is what I want) or slightly inset.
Hopefully someone will know the answer.

If you really want the wheels actually flush with the fenderwell, for a 9.5" rim you want between a 38 and 30mm offset. The 38mm offset is perfect IMHO, because it puts the front rim 1/4" inside the fenderwell. As you move towards a 30mm offset, you are getting closer to being flush. If you ever plan on lowering your car you will need the 38mm offset, because if you are flush your fender will be sitting on top of the tire.

The 9.5" wheels on my car are 38mm offset and are a perfect fit on my car, even with a 1.5" drop.

a look down the side...perfect offset IMHO..

Hi Shawn-
Great pics..and a great example. Exactly what I was looking for.

Are those 19's or 18's? Did you have the rims custom made, or did you specify a custom offset?

TP124,

Thanks. Those are 19's, and I bought them as they are. They were not custom built. I have done a LOT of research on wheels and backspacing on fbodys, and even taken a lot of measurements relating to how close to flush that wheels fit on our cars with certain offsets.

I just bought 18x9.5 chrome C5's and the backspacing is +54mm (which is stock on Camaros)
